What do you believe is the purpose of a college education?
What does it mean to be educated?
What experiences have you had with education that led you to this belief?
I believe that being educated is can mean many different things to different people because it's all about point of view and the things that people have experienced in their lives that may of changed this. What I believe being educated means is that you have a great understanding about many things and are willing to learn new things everyday. A big part of being educated to me is that you learn new and interesting things everywhere you go and from all kinds of people. You may learn something from someone younger or even older than you when some people don't even give elderly or young kids the time of day, the don't know what they could be missing. Sometimes kids could provide the most important thing you may learn in life about being a carefree child or you may learn from the elderly that may have been through so much more in their life time, that they have so much to relay to the younger generation. I believe that you can be educated in more ways than one. You don't just have to go to school to be educated, some of the smartest people out there haven't gone on to college or higher level education and look at where they're at. Now in America it seems like almost everyone is going on to college after high school and this is one way to grow and learn in education. I believe that the purpose of a college education is to not only strengthen your understanding in your choice of career field but also to diverse yourselves and learn more about other subjects and different kinds of people. The experiences that have made me come to these conclusions I think is just being a college student I really can get a feel for how it really is. I believe that I personally have grown so much as a person since I've been away at school and partially it could be because I started out rough at a different school and then transferred. I learned things about myself that I really never discovered until I was put into a situation where I wasn't so comfortable and all I really had was myself. I learned important things about life from my friends and my family, I even learned things from watching strangers interact in their daily lives. I think that a big thing I learned from some kids is that life is so wonderful that you should just enjoy it and run around in the sun or dance in the rain. Something that my dad always told me is "Learn something new everyday, and meet a new person everyday!" I live by that saying to this day because you never know that new piece of information may be life changing or that person may become a new friend. Education is all around you, embrace it and never stop learning!
